There are certain weddings where the energy, the setting, and the couple align so perfectly that the day feels like a scene from a movie. Morgan and Tomi’s recent celebration at The Windmill House in Chino Valley was exactly that kind of day.
As an event production team, we see a lot of venues across Colorado, from the ballrooms of Colorado Springs to the ranches of Gilbert. But there is something undeniably magical about traveling up to Chino Valley to this hidden oasis. We were honored to provide the soundtrack and lighting for this beautiful union, and we couldn’t wait to share the details of a night that was equal parts romantic and high-energy.
If you haven’t visited The Windmill House, you are missing one of Northern Colorado’s best-kept secrets. Located just a short drive from Prescott, this venue feels miles away from the desert heat.
For Morgan and Tomi, the setting was a lush, green fairytale. The property is famous for its private lake and, of course, the iconic 1900s windmill that gives the venue its name.
The Ceremony: Guests watched the couple exchange vows on the private “island,” accessible only by a charming footbridge that makes for a dramatic bridal entrance.
The Vibe: With 160 acres of pastoral land surrounding them, the couple enjoyed complete privacy, surrounded by weeping willows and the Tuscan-inspired architecture of the main house.
It is rare to find this much greenery in Colorado, and it provided a vibrant, fresh backdrop that required very little decor to look absolutely stunning.
A setting this beautiful deserves a photographer who knows exactly how to capture it. That is why we have to take a moment to highlight the incredible work of David Orr Photography (@davidorrweddings).
David is not just a guy with a camera; he is a storyteller. We have worked with many photographers in the Denver metro area and beyond, but David’s ability to put couples at ease is unmatched. He has a reputation for being calm, reassuring, and unobtrusive, which allows him to capture those genuine, candid moments of laughter and tears that posed photos often miss.
For Morgan and Tomi’s wedding, David utilized the venue’s unique lighting perfectly.
Golden Hour: He is a master of sunset shots, using natural light to create “heartfelt, artistic imagery” that feels timeless.
The Details: From the texture of the dress to the reflection of the windmill in the lake, David ensures no detail is lost.
If you are looking for a photographer who will treat your wedding with the same care and passion as if it were his own, you need to check out his portfolio. His work speaks for itself, blending modern style with classic emotion.
Once the sun went down behind the Chino Valley hills, it was time to turn up the volume. At Denver DJ Service, we know that a great view gets guests in the door, but great entertainment keeps them on the dance floor.
For this event, we focused on creating a seamless audio experience.
Ceremony Audio: We ensured that every vow spoken on the island was crystal clear for guests, even with the gentle breeze off the lake.
Reception Lighting: Inside the ballroom, we used uplighting to accent the venue’s stone fireplaces and high ceilings, transitioning the room from a warm dinner atmosphere to a high-energy party vibe as the night progressed.
Morgan and Tomi were an absolute joy to work with, and seeing them celebrate with their friends and family was the highlight of our month.
